Western Bulldogs Football ClubTHE Western Bulldogs, who have won just the one match for the season and that was in round one, are in desperate need of replenishing entering their nine clash against St Kilda on Saturday.

After the disappointing loss to the Gold Coast Suns, the Bulldogs could look to Nathan Hrovat for a recall after he snared 27 disposals in Williamstown’s 30-point win over Frankston on Sunday.

Hrovat, who has been a shining light as one of the Bulldogs top draft picks from last year, was joined by Lachie Hunter, who kicked three goals and had 23 touches for the Seagulls.

Dylan Addison (20 touches) and Mark Austin (nine disposals) were also likely to push for senior selection along with Mitch Wallis, who had 29 touches.

Patrick Veszpremi, with 15 disposals, was also influential while Michael Talia (19 disposals and 11 marks) would also be in the frame if required.

Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney will be looking to change the mix after seven straight losses.

The Bulldogs may be the media focus this week after such as shocking run and despite all the promise over the pre-season, the club is out of the finals race so early and in need of some renewed energy.

McCartney’s rein as coach will also be under scrutiny as debate could perhaps kick into gear about whether the Bulldogs made the right decision in snaring McCartney as coach – or should it have gone with Leon Cameron, who is destined to be GWS’ senior coach next season. Or even Ken Hinkley, who is riding high at Port Adelaide.
